The vision of Open Door Baptist Church is three-fold and is rooted in the Great Commission given us by the Lord Jesus Himself.

Matthew 28:19-20

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

From these verses we derive our vision statement.

“Our vision involves introducing people to Jesus, incorporating them into His body, and instructing them in His ways.”

To go and make disciples necessitates we evangelize or attempt to introduce people to Jesus Christ.  To introduce people to Jesus Christ implies we seek creative and practical ways to help people begin a personal relationship with Christ.

Incorporate:  Baptizing people goes beyond the physical and symbolic act of baptism.  It implies we proactively attempt to incorporate people into the body of Christ in such a way that they are able to use their God-given gifts and talents in such a way that His church is built up and His name is magnified.

Instruct:  Teaching them to obey will manifest itself through the systematic and intentional instruction from God’s word.  But it will also take place as we attempt to be living examples of Christ’s transforming power.

Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision, the people perish

May we see all that we say and do, no matter how seemingly mundane or inconsequential, as a contribution toward fulfilling our vision as a member of Christ’s body.
